Local Talent on Display @ MCPL

The Marion County Public Library will display the artwork of Laura Walker from October 3 - 26th.

Laura Walker grew up in Pleasant Valley, WV. She is a local of Fairmont and she is in her senior year of attending Fairmont State University. Laura is completing her degree in art education and is planning on a teaching career.

Laura has practiced with many kinds of media, as pertains to teaching art. She favors paper cutting with small scissors, also known as scherenschnitte. She also creates many works in pottery and watercolor. She creates her pottery pieces at the FSU studio, where she individually “throws” or forms the pieces on a pottery wheel. She glazes her pottery with majolica glazes.

Laura’s greatest influences are from the local landscape and the delicacy of nature. She wishes to express the fragility of her subject matter in many of her works.
